Leather Archives & Museum Capital Campaign

On August 4th, 2004 the Leather Archives & Museum has a $225,000 balloon payment due on its facility at 6418 N. Greenview Avenue in Chicago. $175,000 of this has been raised. Any balance due can be refinanced, but that means thousands of dollars in interest over the next 10 years. The community can do much better things with that money.

If you have not donated to the campaign, we're asking each and every person who believes in our history to donate $150. Or, if you have donated in the past and can help push us to the finish line....we're asking you to donate as well. The importance of owning the building is critical for today's SM / Sexual Freedom activists, but even more so for the activists of tomorrow. Access to the facts and documented history is key in the defense of what it is we do. Donations can be made directly online at: www.leatherarchives.org/cgi-bin/cart.pl?db=stuff.dat&category=Donations

For $150 you get:

  • Recognized on a brass plaque in the lobby of the LA&M
  • A 1 year voting membership to the LA&M
  • Recognized on the LA&M website (however you choose to be recognized)
  • Knowledge that the building which stores your history is owned by the community, not a bank.
  • A 501(c)(3) deductible donation

Help the worldwide leather community own its first brick and mortar charitable organization. Help save the community thousands of dollars in interest payments. Help make sure your history is available to the generations that will follow you.

About Consent Counts

NCSF is leading a major national campaign—Consent Counts—to change the laws and police practices that our communities now endure, and to establish that consent is available as a defense in criminal BDSM prosecutions.

  • BDSM is prosecuted as assault in the U.S., even when it is consensual.
  • No state or appellate court has allowed consent as a defense to assault in BDSM cases.
  • Consent Counts is a nationwide project to decriminalize consensual BDSM.

Program Goals:
Consent Counts
is a nationwide project to decriminalize consensual BDSM through education, advocacy, legal actions and lobbying.
