"Peoria aims to shoot down swingers club"

on Monday, 11 April 2011. Hits 1373

Chicago Tribune

City leaders in Peoria will soon consider an ordinance aimed at outlawing private swingers clubs where couples meet and swap partners.

The ordinance is aimed at a local business called Club 307. The club sits a couple of blocks from the Police Department and is reportedly a swingers club.

Mayor Jim Ardis told the (Peoria) Journal Star that the city doesn't have an ordinance preventing couples from paying to enter a club and swap partners. But he believes the city needs one.

City Councilman Eric Turner thinks many people are disgusted that Peoria has such a club. ...

"BDSM presentation well-received in Potsdam"

The Racquette

... It was the purpose of the recent BDSM open forum here at SUNY Potsdam to bring the knowledge of these fantasies to light and hopefully shed some of the long-standing stigma of the BDSM lifestyle amongst the curious students in attendance. The forum was held on campus on the evening of March 30 in the Kellas 106. It was hosted by Lisa Bates, a student here at Potsdam. Two professional "dommes" by the names of Master R and Mistress Collette fielded all questions.

Rather than present a traditional prepared lecture, the two guest speakers decided to take an approach of an open question and answer forum. This allowed the many students in attendance (Kellas 106 was filled to capacity) to tailor the forum to their personal intellectual curiosities regarding the BDSM lifestyle. The two speakers made it very clear to the audience that the event was an open and free forum and that no questions regarding the BDSM lifestyle were off-limits. This forthrightness led to a wide array of questions regarding specific sexual fetishes, famous clientele served at the chateau, and even the personal sexual lives of the speakers themselves. All questions were answered with highly apparent and utmost honesty by Master R and Mistress Collette. Despite the opportunity to keep the lecture completely outlandish, most students asked questions implying a genuine curiosity regarding the BDSM lifestyle, and why people participate. ...

"Peoria wants to shut down 'swingers' sex club"

on Friday, 08 April 2011. Hits 358

Journal Star

Behind a nondescript storefront in the city's Warehouse District is what officials are calling a "swingers" sex club, a private place for couples and others to meet and swap partners.

Club 307, located across the street from O'Brien Field - less than two blocks from Peoria Police Department - has operated under the radar and apparently is doing so legally.

Patrons are reportedly charged a fee for membership, which essentially provides a place for people to meet and have sex, city officials say. Alcohol also is provided.

An ordinance going before the City Council on Tuesday would outlaw such a business.

"A lot of the activities that have reportedly taken place there are the activities outlined in the ordinance," Mayor Jim Ardis said Thursday.

Currently, there are no laws on the books prohibiting a business allowing people to engage in or view live sex acts.

"Charging a fee for membership and providing alcohol - that is not legal - and in terms of the actual swapping, and the sex parties and that sort of stuff, we didn't have a specific ordinance on the books," Ardis continued, adding, "We're definitely addressing it."

Danny Laud, owner of Club 307, could not be reached for comment. ...

"Police break up swingers party, charge club owner"

Police broke up a swingers party at a club in Johnston on Saturday night and arrested the club's owner.

The Providence Journal reported that Steven Santilli, the owner of Sebastian's Party Place, was charged with operating and promoting an obscene show.

A Johnston patrolwoman and a state police detective went into the Plainfield Street club posing as a couple and paid $25 to get into the advertised "swinger mingle."

Investigators said women were dancing on the bar, a woman performed a sex act on a man on stage and that eight women went topless after a wet T-shirt contest.

The undercover officers called in backup and closed the club for the night.

Police said Santilli also was charged with violating a town nudity ordinance and that he did not have an adult entertainment license.

Sebastian's has an entertainment license and a liquor license, according to the newspaper.

"Wife of accused sex slave master from Laclede County MO is charged with conspiracy"

The wife of a man from southwest Missouri who is accused of keeping a young woman as his sex slave is now charged with participating in a sex trafficking conspiracy.  A federal indictment handed up on Wednesday charges Marilyn Bagley, 45, with conspiracy, sex trafficking, forced labor trafficking and document servitude.

The indictment also includes new charges against another defendant, Bradley Cook.  Those charges include attempted tampering with a victim and using an interstate facility in commission of murder for hire.

Marilyn Bagley told a reporter last year that she often slept in the same bed with her husband and his sex slave in their rural trailer near Lebanon.  She said prosecutors threatened to charge her in the case if she didn't testify against her husband. ...

"Is kink the new girl-on-girl kiss?"

Rihanna is the latest in a line of pop stars using S/M as an edgy symbol of empowerment. Too bad it doesn't shock

Have you heard? Rihanna likes rough sex. Just in case you didn't get the message from her recent single "S&M" -- which contains the subtle lyrics, "chains and whips excite me" -- she clarifies her position, so to speak, in the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone: "Being submissive in the bedroom is really fun." She adds, "I like to be spanked. Being tied up is fun."

...

Oops, sorry, still there? I dozed off for a second. Signaling an interest in mildly kinky sex has become pretty banal. Madonna and Janet Jackson have been there, done that -- and now we have a whole new generation of starlets who are acting like they invented the riding crop. Like the women before them, the latest set of kink-loving pop stars are using it as shorthand for female sexual empowerment -- the kind that, importantly, is still commercial and alluring to straight men. S/M is like the new girl-on-girl makeout. Forget "I Kissed a Girl" -- I fully expect the next breezy summer hit to be something along the lines of "I Was Spanked (And I Liked It)." As with most mainstream depictions of women's erotic power, I find it sad and totally exhilarating, all at the same time.

In case you've missed the recent flood of bondage-themed ephemera, allow me to fill you in. Rihanna is just the latest entrant with her ode to sadomasochism. The song itself is very sexual, of course, but the music video is more TV-friendly. She's shown trapped behind a wall of saran wrap in front of a bunch of tabloid reporters who are wearing ball gags. A nasty journo scrawls "slut" in capital letters in his notebook; a headline about her "daddy issues" scrawls across the screen. She takes bitchy gossip blogger Perez Hilton for a walk -- or crawl, really -- on a leash. It's S/M as a metaphor, a way for Rihanna to punish and humiliate the haters. She's saved the more literal S/M for her lyrics, wardrobe and interviews. ...

"Lebanon Woman Indicted, More Charges Filed in Sex Slave Case"

Ozarks First

U.S. Attorney Beth Phillips says Marilyn Bagley, 45, of Lebanon has been indicted in an ongoing sex trafficking scheme.

She joins her husband and four other co-defendants who were indicted last year for their roles in a commercial sex trafficking conspiracy.

According to court documents, a mentally deficient woman was sexually abused and tortured for several years at a Lebanon residence, and forced to work as an exotic dancer at local strip clubs.

Wednesday's indictment also contains additional charges against the original defendants related to a murder-for-hire scheme, witness and victim tampering and witness retaliation, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence and child pornography.

Bagley is accused of joining her husband Edward Bagley, Sr., also known as "Master Ed," 43, and Michael Stokes, also known as "The Rodent," 62, all of Lebanon, Mo., and Bradley Cook, also known as "PutHer2GoodUse," 32, of St. Louis.

They were charged in an 18-count superseding indictment returned by a grand jury in Kansas City. This replaces a September indictment.

Edward Bagley, Stokes and Cook remain in federal custody. ...

"True Love Revolution Hosts Porn Discussion"

Harvard Crimson

... Hilton also said that this trend detrimentally affects masculinity by desensitizing males to “appreciate female beauty” and perpetuating pornography addiction, which he defined as compulsive pornography use and compared to physical substance abuses.

Hilton argued that excessively viewing pornography results in neuromodulation of human brains, a process that influences the organ’s structure, making it are similar to “gambling, drugs, Sadomasochism and pedophilia,” which he claimed were also addictions. Through the brain’s pleasure center, pornography consumption is rewarded by the provision of dopamine, similar to physical sexual contact, and therefore can be addicting, he said.

The lecture elicited mixed audience reaction.

Taras B. Dreszer ’14 said that he found the talk to be overly moralistic.

“I came to the talk because I was interested in a neuroscience perspective, and I was disappointed by the fact that his points were only loosely backed by science,” Dreszer said.
