JS Very is registered as an unlicensed Marriage and Familiy Therapist Intern, IMF # 80548 by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs. He is supervised be Melissa “Izzy” Nance, MFT # 50391.

He obtained a Masters in Conseling and Art Therapy from the APA accredited Adler School of Professional Psychology in 2009 and wrote his thesis on the Use of Art Therapy with LGBT clients.

 

His counseling perspective is based in feminist, existential and transcendental psychology.  JS Very specializes in career counseling and life coaching for artists and entrepreneurs.

JS Very has experience using art therapy as a therapeutic intervention with individuals, couples and groups who identify as:

Transgender/gender queer, Intersex, Asexual, Sex workers, Polyamorous, HIV/AIDs/Poz folks, Kinky/BDSM lifestylers, Addictions, recovery, co-dependents

 

JS Very's organization, Tongue in Chic Gallery, funds creative projects by transgender-identified entrepreneurs and is now under the fiscal sponsorship of Intersection for the Arts in San Francisco.

 

J.S also specializes in teaching topics on the psychology and performance of gender and sexuality. J.S is available to provide transgender inclusion training geared towards clinicians and organizations as well as seminars and honorariums at universities.

 

J.S is very interested in furthering the research on the use of Jungian archetypal imagery to describe where we are at on our journey and the also the use of digital technology as a therapeutic art medium.
