Sex tapes allegedly used in extort bid
By Lisa Redmond
The Lowell Sun (Massachusetts)
November 11, 2004
Former BayWatch babe Pamela Anderson knows the trouble long-lost sex tapes can cause. So does hotel heiress Paris Hilton.
Now a Westford man is living the horror and embarrassment of learning that sadomasochistic sex tapes he made with a former longtime girlfriend fell into the hands of an alleged extortionist.
Prosecutor Elizabeth Dunigan alleges Gerard Lamontagne, 44, of Orange, tried to use the naughty tapes to force the victim, who is named in court documents as "John Doe," to pay about $1,500 in cash to get the tapes back.
But instead of handing over the cash, the Westford man handed Lamontagne over to the police tapes in hand.
In Lowell Superior Court this week, Judge Ralph Gants ordered Lamontagne held on $5,000 after he pleaded innocent to one count of extortion by false report.

Accused spanker hospitalized after suicide call
Associated Press report
via The Jackson Sun News (Tennessee)
November 11, 2004
A business owner charged with spanking two women employees was placed in intensive care at a hospital, and police records released Wednesday referred to a possible suicide attempt.
Paul Eugene Levengood, 57, of Cleveland was in the intensive care unit at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville. Family members declined comment about Levengood's condition or the reason for his hospitalization.
Levengood, who owns a Tasty Flavors Sno Biz shaved ice business in Red Bank, a Chattanooga suburb, was charged with two counts of sexual battery after two women employees told police he spanked them for making mistakes at work.

Women Allege Boss Spanked Them for Errors
by Bill Poovey
Associated Press
via The Sun News (Myrtle Beach, SC)
November 9, 2004
RED BANK, Tenn. – Two young women complained to police that they were spanked by their 57-year-old employer for mistakes on the job, and the boss now faces criminal charges.
One of the women told police that on her first day at the Tasty Flavors Sno Biz, before any spanking, owner Paul Eugene Levengood made her sign a statement that said: "I give Gene permission to bust my behind any way he sees fit."
The separate complaints prompted two sexual battery charges against Levengood of Cleveland, who was freed on a $2,000 bond pending a Nov. 16 court hearing.
Levengood could not be reached for comment Tuesday, and his Tasty Flavors Sno Biz shaved ice business in this Chattanooga suburb was closed.
Police Sgt. Jay LaMance said the two 19-year-old women likely accepted the spankings instead of leaving immediately because they were "brought up to respect anybody who is an authority figure."

Sex on Tuesday: Swinging in the Rain
by Sari Eitches
The Daily Californian

Psst. Don't tell BushCo, but last weekend there was tons of hot extramarital sex. Wife swap. And I'm not talking that crap on TV. Orgy. And I'm not talking the '90s alt-metal band. Swinging. And I'm not talking the saddle-shoed dance craze.
Given my journalistic integrity, it would have been unconscionable to turn down an invitation to the Third Annual Swingers Ball in San Jose. I just had to go – you know, for research. If you subscribe to the I'm-terrified-of-marriage-because-I-don't-want-to-pledge-to-have-sex-with- only-one-person-for-the-rest-of-my-life school of thought, pull up a bar stool and take note. They call themselves swingers and they know how to throw a party.
When I arrived, there was something familiar about the scene – a rented hotel ballroom, a mediocre DJ, flowing booze, couples socializing in arm-linked units and a palpable anticipation of imminent sex – holy shit, I was reliving prom!

I Wed Thee, and Thee, and Thee
by Kay S. Hymowitz
City Journal

Same-sex marriage advocates tend to jeer at the argument that allowing such unions will open a smorgasbord of marital practices. They insist that what interests them is not to transform the institution radically but only to welcome their homosexual friends, neighbors, and relatives to its benefits. A few recent developments suggest that they're dead wrong.
Consider a recent USA Today op-ed by Jonathan Turley, arguing that it's time for poly-gamous marriage to receive constitutional protection. However misguided, Turley is no bomb thrower. He is a Georgetown University prof, a prolific scholar, and a frequent television talking head on legal issues. Here, he simply underscores two points that homosexual advocates downplay: first, that the Supreme Court's 2003 Lawrence decision, striking down anti-sodomy laws, "recognized the constitutional right to engage in any form of consensual sexual relation", presumably including multiple partners; and second – and somewhat more plausibly, given that Lawrence is about private sexual practices and implies nothing about marriage – that Reynolds v. United States, the 1878 Supreme Court case that upheld a ban on polygamy in the United States territories, is so filled with racist innuendo and cavalier attitudes about religious freedom that it would be unlikely to pass muster today.

Phone Sex Is Better Than Porn
by Regina Lynn
Wired
November 5, 2004
Last week I wrote about mobile porn, and many of you — but not all — agreed that phone porn might not be as big of a draw as some companies hope. Rather, the consensus among those who e-mailed me was that you would rather use your phone for actual sex than plain ol' porno.
I'm not talking about the vibration setting, which is too short and wimpy to do anyone any good. I'm talking about talking. Connecting with each other. Getting kinky with devices that let you experiment with gender and species. Seducing a stranger or a spouse, although I wouldn't suggest doing so at the same time unless you're all three into that.
Midori is a San Francisco-based sex educator who teaches workshops such as "Hands-on Flogging" and "Predicament Bondage".
But while BDSM is an excellent icebreaker at parties, she finds that one of her most popular classes is "Aural Sex: Seduction by Voice and Erotic Story Telling." I imagine that's because while not everyone wants to admit their fascination with ropes and martinets, almost everyone has a phone.

HOW TO WRITE A LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Feedback letters are an effective way to convey a positive image of alternate sexual practices such as SM, swinging, or polyamory. You can help to correct negative social myths and misconceptions about these types of practices. These letters help achieve the advocacy goals of the NCSF.
Generally, for a letter to be published, it's important to include your name (or first initial, last name), city and daytime phone (for verification only). For more information, see:
https://ncsfreedom.org/media/writelettertoeditor.htm
Please alert us to positive, negative or neutral stories about SM, swinging and polyamory at media@ncsfreedom.org
