DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) – Robert Godard was the first witness in the Bob Bashara trial for the murder of wife Jane on Tuesday.
Godard was a former long-time friend of Bashara’s, who Bob had introduced to the BDSM lifestyle.
It is an alternative lifestyle Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Vonda Evans asked him to explain.
“It’s very hard to explain,” Godard said.
“Does that stand for bondage-discipline-sadomasochism,” he was asked.
“Yes,” Godard said.
Godard replied in questioning that in the lifestyle people are submissive people and others considered dominant, which he also referred to as slaves and masters.
After being asked what role Bashara had, Godard said: “He was a master. He did have a dungeon, yes.”
Godard testified that Master Bob had a slave and it wasn’t his wife.
Did you meet somebody named Rachel Gillette?
“Yes, one of Bob’s slaves,” Godard said.
Lindsey asked if Bob had several slaves, to which Godard said yes.
Prosecutors say it was Rachel that Bashara was planning a future with.
“After his kids were out of school, he was going to leave her and make his life with Rachel.
“There was a house there were going to be purchasing somewhere in Grosse Pointe and they were going to make a life together and live in that house.” …
