Incident Reporting & Response – 2nd Quarter 2022 Report

NCSF’s Incident Reporting & Response received 51 reports & requests for assistance from individuals, groups and businesses in April, May and June, 2022. That slightly less than the 57 reports received in the 1st Quarter of 2022.

NCSF maintains the confidentiality of those who come to us for help, however we balance that need with the need to report the services we are providing and to provide the community with a record of where the need is the greatest.

Here is a breakdown of the cases we dealt with in the 2nd Quarter of 2022:

Groups

Resources were requested by 16 organizations and people who are dealing with groups, compared to 21 requests in the 1st Quarter of 2022. The reports include:

  • 10 groups were asking about attendees/presenters/organizers or reporting they had banned someone
  • 2 groups asked for a consultation on their consent policies & procedures
  • 2 people were banned by a group and wanted to appeal it
  • 1 group needed a KAP attorney and insurance
  • 1 group needed assistance in helping a member report a crime to law enforcement during an event

Criminal

There were 15 requests for resources and information involving criminal legal matters, compared to 16 in the 1st Quarter of 2022:  The reports include:

  • 11 reports came from people who were assaulted, sexually assaulted, harassed or stealthed (2 of the people who were reported were community organizers)
  • 3 reports were forwarding public information about criminal convictions or warrants for arrest
  • 1 report came from someone defending themselves against allegations of sexual assault

Outing

There were 6 reports compared to 4 in the 1st Quarter of 2022:

  • 2 organizers and groups reported they were outed or threatened with outing by people protesting their consent policy & procedures
  • 1 person reported they were outed to their work as a Pro-Domme
  • 1 candidate for city government was outed as kinky by the media
  • 1 person reported they were outed on FetLife by a group organizer
  • 1 person reported they were outed and accused of a consent violation

Professionals

There were 6 requests regarding professionals compared to 3 in the 1st Quarter of 2022:

  • 2 professionals were reported for ethics violations involving polyamory
  • 2 professionals requested information on reporting ethics violations to licensing organizations
  • 1 professional reported licensing issues due to accusations of consent violations associated with kink.
  • 1 professional needed research data on how many people are seriously injured doing BDSM

Child Custody

There were 5 requests for resources and referrals for family court attorneys, compared to 6 in the 1st Quarter of 2022:

  • 2 parents reported child custody issues due to kink
  • 1 parent reported child custody issues due to polyamory
  • 1 parent reported child custody issues due to swinging Lifestyle
  • 1 parent reported divorce and child custody issues over their cross-dressing

Civil

There were 3 reports compared to 7 in the 1st Quarter of 2022:

  • 1 person reported job discrimination (for having an adults-only social media account)
  • 1 person was needed a mediator due to a conflict with another alt-sex community member
  • 1 person was looking for expert witness for civil lawsuit to sue for theft and damages
