Incident Reporting & Response – 2nd Quarter 2024 Report

NCSF’s Incident Reporting & Response received 81 reports & requests for assistance from individuals, groups and businesses in April, May and June 2024, compared to the 65 reports in the 1st Quarter of 2024.

NCSF maintains the confidentiality of those who come to us for help, however we balance that need with the need to report the services we are providing and to provide the community with a record of where the need is the greatest.

Here is a breakdown of the cases we dealt with in the 2nd Quarter 2024:

Groups

Resources were requested by 38 organizations and people who are dealing with groups, compared to 24 requests in the 1st Quarter of 2024:

  • 19 groups asked about attendees/presenters/organizers or reported they had banned someone
  • 5 groups asked for a consultation on their consent policies & procedures or training their Consent Response Team
  • 3 groups needed a KAP attorney for zoning issues
  • 4 groups needed assistance with DEI issues
  • 2 people were banned by a group
  • 2 groups needed social media assistance
  • 2 groups needed business policy advice
  • 1 group needed a no trespassing order

Criminal

There were 22 requests for resources and information involving criminal legal matters, compared to 24 in the 1st Quarter of 2024:

  • 19 reports came from people who were sexually assaulted, assaulted, choked, injured, ignoring a safeword, blackmailed, nonconsensual touching, STI exposure, threats, harassment, stalking (8 of the accused were presenters or organizers)
  • 1 person reported they had been charged in a criminal case involving impact play
  • 1 person reported they didn’t ask permission before having anal sex with their sleeping partner
  • 1 person was reported as a registered sex offender

Professional

There were 8 requests regarding professionals compared to 3 in the 1st Quarter of 2024:

  • 2 students asked us to broadcast their survey (neither met our criteria)
  • 1 person was looking for a KAP attorney to deal with immigration
  • 1 student needed information for a policy brief for their masters course
  • 1 person needed a professional to remove a hypnosis trigger
  • 1 person needed information on consent vs IPV for their therapist
  • 1 professional needed information on kink for a client
  • 1 person was looking for an EMDR therapist

Outing

There were 5 reports compared to 5 in the 1st Quarter of 2024:

  • 3 people reported being outed/doxed (1 to their mother)
  • Someone reported they were outed to their job and put on administrative leave
  • Someone was threatened with outing because they were accused of a consent violation

Civil

There were 5 reports compared to 8 in the 1st Quarter of 2024:

  • 4 reports involved defamation, with 3 people reporting defamation and another person being sued for defamation by a group
  • 1 report on financial discrimination

Child Custody/Divorce

There were 3 requests for resources and referrals for family court attorneys, compared to 1 in the 1st Quarter of 2024:

  • Someone reported an issue with their child’s guardian ad litem (involving kink)
  • Someone reported a child custody issue involving kink/nonmonogamy and sex work
  • Someone needed a KAP attorney to assist with divorce/child custody issues
