Watch this video to learn about Explicit Prior Permission, the new legal framework for consent to kink in the Model Penal Code on Sexual Assault

5 steps to get Explicit Prior Permission:

  1. You agree to specific acts and their intensity before you start.
  2. You agree what roleplay resistance is ok to ignore.
  3. You have to have a way to stop at any time (a safeword or safe signal).
  4. You are of sound mind.

Dear Event Organizer,

I’m contacting you about the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, the only national organization fighting for our rights, to find out how we can be a part of your event. NCSF is grassroots, all volunteer coalition of over 150 groups, businesses, and professionals that serve the kink and polyamory communities, and we are always looking for ways to increase awareness of our programs.

Please consider including us in your event in one or more of the following ways:

  • Provide NCSF with a table in your vending or registration area, which we may use to distribute our free resources and sign up members
  • Provide NCSF with two free event registrations for the Consent Counts volunteers who
will be working hard at the table during the event
  • Allow a Consent Counts volunteer to speak to your audience – we promise to keep it short with a 1-minute prepared speech
  • Include NCSF postcards in your Registration Packets for free
  • Include an ad for NCSF in your Program Book for free
  • Include a banner to link to NCSF
  • Hold a fundraiser to benefit NCSF during your event. We can provide organizational assistance before, during and after the event

We are open to almost any idea you might have about how NCSF can participate in your event.

Thank you for considering adding NCSF to your plans – without the support of the communities we represent, we cannot continue to fight for YOUR sexual freedom!

Sometimes you only have 30 seconds to tell people about NCSF. The following is a useful, short summary of NCSF:

National Coalition for Sexual Freedom has been fighting for our rights for nearly 30 years and changing the way society views kinky and non-monogamous people. NCSF is a grassroots, all-volunteer coalition of groups, businesses, and professionals that serve the kink, polyamory, and swing communities. Their website is: NCSFreedom.org

NCSF can help you if you’ve been discriminated against or have child custody issues, or if you need help dealing with a consent incident. They help groups create a consent policy and procedures for dealing with consent incidents, so that organizers don’t have to reinvent the wheel. They can help groups, clubs, and events that are fighting Sexually Oriented Business Ordinances to keep our gathering places safe.

NCSF also works with professionals to make systemic change. They helped get the APA to say we’re not mentally ill, and they worked with the American Law Institute to make kink legal. You can join for free to support the cause and get quarterly information about the fight for sexual freedom.

If you are given the opportunity to take the microphone on stage at an event or to speak for a couple of minutes about NCSF in a class, what will you say? Never fear, we’ve prepared a short speech to help you communicate our message in a hurry:

Explicit Prior Permission (EPP) is the new legal framework for consent to kink that NCSF helped develop. It replaces old case law that said “consent is not a defense,” and is already being used in criminal court.

Everyone needs to do 5 things to get Explicit Prior Permission for kink:

  1. You have to agree to the specific acts you’re going to do together, including whether there’s going to be any touching of the breasts or genitals.
  2. You have to discuss the risks and agree how intense it will be. But you can’t seriously injure someone, even if they consented to the act.
  3. You have to agree if you want to roleplay and/or protest what’s happening.
  4. You have to have a way to stop at any time, even if you’re doing consensual nonconsent –
like a safeword or safe signal.
  5. You have to be sure that everyone is an adult and able to consent – that they’re not under
the influence, in subspace, or having a mental health issue.

Please check out all of NCSF’s resources:
·        The KAP list gives you a place to find service professionals who understand kink.
·        NCSF gives workshops on consent and EPP.
·        There’s also NCSF research data, resources and more.

NCSF supports all of us, it’s time for us to support NCSF by joining or donating! Most of the
funding comes from small group fundraisers, so ask your group to support
