NCSF’s Incident Reporting & Response received 67 reports & requests for assistance from individuals, groups and businesses in January, February and March 2025, compared to the 43 reports in the 4th Quarter, 50 reports in the 3rd Quarter, and 81 reports in the 2nd Quarter of 2024.
NCSF maintains the confidentiality of those who come to us for help, however we balance that need with the need to report the services we are providing and to provide the community with a record of where the need is the greatest.
Here is a breakdown of the reports we dealt with in the 1st Quarter 2025:
Groups
Resources were requested by 33 organizations and people who are dealing with groups, compared to 14 requests in the 4th Quarter of 2024:
- 10 groups asked about attendees/presenters/organizers or reported they had banned someone
- 8 groups asked for a consultation on their consent policies & procedures
- 7 groups needed assistance with a media crisis
- 2 people needed help with reporting consent issues to a group
- 1 group needed a copyright attorney
- 1 group needed advice and an attorney to set up a private membership organization
- 1 group asked for consent resources for violators
- 1 group needed liability education
- 1 group needed education on defamation involving a volunteer
- 1 group reported their event was shut down by county authorities
Criminal
There were 18 requests for resources and information involving criminal legal matters, compared to 16 in the 4th Quarter of 2024:
- 15 reports came from people who were sexually assaulted, assaulted, injured, photographed without permission, STI exposure, stealthing, harassment, stalking, safeword ignored, vandalism, theft, limits violated (2 of the accused were presenters or organizers)
- 2 people reported that they were reported to groups for committing a consent violation (1 was a community organizer)
- 1 person wanted to know about the legality of BDSM in the U.S.
Professionals
There were 6 requests regarding professionals compared to 2 in the 4th Quarter of 2024:
- 2 people needed a referral to a mental health professional
- 1 mental health professional needed information on kink
- 1 producer needed media help for their kink play
- 1 student needed information about sexual choking
- 1 person needed UK kink resources and advocacy orgs
Outing
There were 5 reports compared to 3 in the 4th Quarter of 2024:
- 2 organizers reported being outed as kinky and threatened with legal action by the same three individuals
- 1 person was outed as kinky during a child custody case
- 1 person reported they were outed as kinky by a play partner
- 1 person reported being doxxed and harassed
Child Custody/Divorce
There were 3 requests for resources and referrals for family court attorneys, compared to 1 in the 4th Quarter of 2024:
- 2 people were involved in divorce cases where they were accused of infidelity due to nonmonogamy
- 1 person reported kink was used against them in child custody case
Civil
There were 2 reports compared to 7 in the 4th Quarter of 2024:
- 1 report involved defamation
- 1 person reported they were fired after security clearance review disclosure for being kinky
