Dominatrix: No dice on chop confession

by Dave Wedge

Boston Herald

March 10, 2004

A Quincy dominatrix accused of dicing up a pudgy patron who died during bondage play says she never confessed and questions whether the victim is even dead, according to court papers obtained by the Herald.

Noting that police found "domination" videos in Michael Lord's New Hampshire trailer and seized S&M Web site information from his computer, Barbara Asher says the 53-year-old retired phone company lineman had motive to "disappear" or may have been a target of foul play.

"There is no evidence that Lord is dead," Asher's attorney, Stephanie Page, wrote in court papers seeking to have manslaughter charges against Asher tossed out.

A 54-year-old professional dominatrix formerly known as Mistress Lauren M, Asher also claims she never told cops she and her boyfriend, Miguel "Mr. Versace" Ferrer, chopped up Lord after he died on her torture rack July 3, 2000. Ferrer, an Argentine on the lam, faces accessory charges.

University finds Cuffs guilty of assault

by Tom Barton

Iowa State Daily

March 9, 2004

The university's Office of Judicial Affairs has determined a university bondage and sadomasochism group is guilty of assault – a violation of both university student disciplinary regulations and Iowa law.

Despite evidence and testimony given in the group's support at a hearing March 1 into allegations of assault charges, Iowa State's BDSM club, Cuffs, will undergo conduct probation – one of three possible disciplinary actions the university could impose.

Under university regulations, the Office of Judicial Affairs Administrator can also impose reasonable limitations on activity, which the university has done to limit Cuffs demonstrations. Cuffs must operate as an educational and discussion group only.

"The organization is restricted from performing demonstrations, sponsoring events and organizing social activities that violate university student disciplinary regulations, federal, state or local law," [Bethany] Schuttinga [director of Judicial Affairs] said.
