Fotog Killed Porn Star: DA

by Aly Sujo

New York Post

March 25, 2004

A photographer has been charged with fatally stabbing a Canadian porn actress, apparently after a grisly S&M shoot left him in the throes of a "sexual bondage fantasy," Pennsylvania prosecutors said yesterday.

Anthony Frederick, of Eagleville, Pa., was charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and possession of a knife after allegedly killing Natel King, 23, an actress also known by the stage name Taylor Sumers.

Montgomery County DA Bruce Castor said the porn actress fought for her life. "Obviously, she put up a fight against her attacker," he told reporters. "I believe … she met her demise at the hands of Anthony Frederick as part of a sexual bondage fantasy."

Frederick told investigators he took 20 digital photos of King in February and paid her $900. Photographs showed King displaying bondage paraphernalia similar to that found with the body, prosecutors said.

Allure of exotic fitness programs replaces treadmill regimen

by Kate Santich

The Orlando Sentinel

(reprinted in The Fort Wayne News Sentinel)

March 24, 2004

The concept may not play in Peoria, but that's one thing about the latest melange of fitness routines – there's something out there for everybody.

Whipped, taught in South Florida, features a leather-clad dominatrix complete with thigh-high boots, riding crop and "a healthy dose of S&M." Ads promise: "Nothing will get you working harder."

The class was created by Crunch Fitness, a national chain of gyms targeting the young, urban, hip professional. Crunch was also the first gym to offer Cardio Striptease, and it continues to shake up the workout world by coming out with such innovations as Cycle Karaoke (singing while you spin), Navy Seal Boot Camp, hip-hop-inspired Grooveology and Ruff Yoga, which is, as the name hints, yoga with your dog. The latter is held outdoors, perhaps in deference to janitorial protests.

"Our goal is for people to have a good time and be entertained while they're getting a workout," says Shetal Amin, a Crunch spokeswoman in New York. "First and foremost, it should be fun. If it's drudgery, you're not going to want to stay with it."

Former Frankel aide sentenced in federal court

The Associated Press

via The Stamford Advocate (Connecticut)

March 24, 2004

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Former financier Martin Frankel's office manager was sentenced Wednesday to 61/2 years in prison for her role in the theft of $200 million from insurance companies in five states.

Mona Kim, 39, also was ordered to pay $50 million in restitution at the rate of $200 a month beginning after she is released from prison.

Kim, who met Frankel through an ad seeking a sadomasochistic sex partner, fled with him to Europe in May 1999 as insurance regulators began to uncover the fraud. They left behind stacks of documents smoldering in the fireplace and filing cabinets of Frankel's mansion, along with a "to do" list that included the notation "launder money."

Lothstein said Kim developed post-traumatic stress disorder because of her abusive father, who often threatened family members, sometimes with guns and knives. "By lay standards, he was a lunatic," Lothstein said.

The result, Lothstein said, was that Kim was "afflicted with sexual masochism" that hobbled her ability to make decisions and "impaired her mental capacity to understand the wrongfulness of her actions.

Photographer Charged With Porn Actress' Slaying

by Ron Todt

Associated Press

via The Houston Chronicle

March 24, 2004

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — A photographer was charged with fatally stabbing a porn actress, apparently after a photo shoot with a sexual bondage theme, prosecutors said today.

Anthony Joseph Frederick was charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and possession of a knife and was in custody without bail, prosecutors said. As he was led from a courthouse, Frederick called out to reporters that he was innocent.

Frederick told investigators he took 20 digital photos of King on Feb. 29. He and Mitkus said King was paid $900 and they left. King was never heard from again and her car was found parked nearby on March 5.

Photos Frederick provided show King displaying bondage paraphernalia similar to that found with the body. A coroner identified the body today as King.

Cuffs appeals assault charge guilty ruling

by Tom Barton

Iowa State Daily

March 23, 2004

A campus bondage and sadomasochism group found guilty of assault and sanctioned by a university judicial decision claims the judgment was unfair.

Cuffs filed an appeal Monday with the dean of student's office regarding a decision made March 8 by Director of Judicial Affairs Bethany Schuttinga. Earlier this month, Schuttinga ruled Cuffs was responsible for assault — a violation of Student Disciplinary Regulations and the Iowa Code.

"I'm not optimistic of much on anything with this process anymore," Long said. "We've now presented several times with the information they needed, and so far, they haven't reached an appropriate conclusion. It's my belief that any reasonable person with the facts presented would have found Cuffs innocent."

Jury rejects that death was accident during sex

by Michael Zeigler

Democrat and Chronicle (Rochester, NY)

by March 23, 2004

The death of Leilani Fracassi wasn't an accident, jurors decided Monday

A Monroe County Court jury convicted Larry A. Vought, Fracassi's boyfriend, of intentional second-degree murder, rejecting his claim that he accidentally strangled her Aug. 6 during consensual rough sex.

Vought claimed he strangled Fracassi during sadomasochistic sex that she endorsed in a note allowing Vought to be as rough as he wanted as long as he didn't break her nose or blacken her eyes.

But Assistant District Attorney Douglas A. Randall said he believes jurors gave great weight to recorded telephone conversations to relatives from the County Jail, in which Vought said he snapped when Fracassi pushed him during an argument over their daughter's haircut and custody.
