Incident Reporting & Response – 3rd Quarter 2021 Report

NCSF’s Incident Reporting & Response received 39 reports & requests for assistance from individuals, groups and businesses in July, August and September, 2021. That is a drop from the 45 reports received in the 2nd Quarter of 2021.

NCSF maintains the confidentiality of those who come to us for help, however we balance that need with the need to report the services we are providing and to provide the community with a record of where the need is the greatest.

Here is a breakdown of the cases we dealt with in the 3rd Quarter of 2021:

Criminal

There were 16 requests for resources and information involving criminal legal matters, compared to 14 in the 2nd Quarter of 2021:  The reports include:

  • 10 reports came from people who were assaulted, sexually assaulted, harassed, stealthed, revenge porn or exposed to an STI nonconsensually
  • 5 reports requested resources and referrals for attorneys to assist in defending against allegations of sexual assault, a restraining order, or they a needed an expert witness
  • 1 report was from someone who was called as a witness in a criminal case

Groups

Resources were requested by 15 organizations and people who are dealing with groups, compared to 17 requests in the 2nd Quarter of 2021. The reports include:

  • 6 groups were asking about presenters/organizers or reporting they had banned someone
  • 2 groups asked for a consultation on consent policies & procedures
  • 2 people reported groups for allowing consent incidents to happen or for allowing underage people at their events
  • 2 groups asked about issues with the media
  • 1 group was looking for an attorney to incorporate
  • 1 person was banned by a group and wanted to appeal it
  • 1 group wanted to get info on offering free STI testing to their membership

Civil

There were 4 reports compared to 3 in the 2nd Quarter of 2021:

  • 1 person reported job discrimination because they came out as kinky
  • 1 person reported discrimination by Amazon over their book cover
  • 2 people reported being doxed and outed

Professional

There were 3 requests regarding professionals compared to 8 in the 2nd Quarter of 2021:

  • 1 professional asked if they should document kink behavior by their clients due to the new MPC on SA?
  • 1 professional reported licensing issues due to their private kink behavior
  • 1 person was looking for a kink aware Christian therapist

Child Custody

There was 1 request for resources and referrals for family court attorneys, compared to 3 in the 2nd Quarter of 2021:

  • A parent was having child custody issues due to kink
