Incident Reporting & Response – 4th Quarter 2021 Report

NCSF’s Incident Reporting & Response received 65 reports & requests for assistance from individuals, groups and businesses in October, November and December, 2021. That is a sharp increase from the 39 reports received in the 3rd Quarter of 2021.

NCSF maintains the confidentiality of those who come to us for help, however we balance that need with the need to report the services we are providing and to provide the community with a record of where the need is the greatest.

Here is a breakdown of the cases we dealt with in the 4th Quarter of 2021:

Groups

Resources were requested by 24 organizations and people who are dealing with groups, compared to 15 requests in the 3rd Quarter of 2021. The reports include:

  • 12 groups were asking about presenters/organizers or reporting they had banned someone
  • 4 groups asked for a consultation on consent policies & procedures
  • 2 people were looking for resources and an attorney to incorporate and open a club
  • 3 people were banned by a group and want to appeal it
  • 1 group’s event was raided by hotel security
  • 1 group needed assistance in reaching out to local authorities to make sure their event will be legal
  • 1 group was looking for a bank for their club

Criminal

There were 23 requests for resources and information involving criminal legal matters, compared to 16 in the 3rd Quarter of 2021:  The reports include:

  • 17 reports came from people who were assaulted, sexually assaulted, harassed, threatened, blackmailed, had photos posted without permission or exposed to an STI (4 of those reported were community organizers)
  • 5 reports requested resources and referrals for attorneys and resources to assist in defending themselves against allegations of sexual assault or a restraining order
  • 1 report of being charged with obscenity

Professional

There were 8 requests regarding professionals compared to 3 in the 3rd Quarter of 2021:

  • 2 people needed information on kink for their research projects
  • 1 professional asked about licensing issues due to videos
  • 1 person looking for a kink aware therapist
  • 1 person reported a professional wasn’t actually licensed
  • 1 professional needed information on age play for a legal case
  • 1 professional needed assistance in differentiating CNM from cheating in a divorce case

Civil

There were 4 reports compared to 4 in the 3rd Quarter of 2021:

  • 1 person reported job discrimination because they are kinky
  • 1 person was looking for a mediator
  • 1 person reported their HOA doesn’t like their pride flags
  • 1 company reached out for help in serving kinky people better

Outing

There were 4 reports compared to 2 in the 3rd Quarter of 2021:

  • 1 person was outed on social media as kinky
  • 1 person was outed to their employer as kinky
  • 1 person was outed to their family as kinky
  • 1 person was outed as polyamorous

Child Custody

There were 2 requests for resources and referrals for family court attorneys, compared to 1 in the 3rd Quarter of 2021:

  • 2 parents contacted us about child custody issues due to kink (1 involving FetLife photos)
