Incident Reporting & Response – 3rd Quarter 2022 Report

NCSF’s Incident Reporting & Response received 79 reports & requests for assistance from individuals, groups and businesses in July, August and September, 2022. That is a 65% increase compared to the 51 reports NCSF received in the 2nd Quarter of 2022.

NCSF maintains the confidentiality of those who come to us for help, however we balance that need with the need to report the services we are providing and to provide the community with a record of where the need is the greatest.

Here is a breakdown of the cases we dealt with in the 3rd Quarter of 2022:

Groups

Resources were requested by 36 organizations and people who are dealing with groups, compared to 16 requests in the 2nd Quarter of 2022. The reports include:

  • 15 groups were asking about attendees/presenters/organizers or reporting they had banned someone
  • 10 groups asked for a consultation on their consent policies & procedures
  • 5 groups needed a KAP attorney
  • 2 groups reported a scam in their name
  • 2 groups needed resources to deal with zoning issue (1 involved an HOA)
  • 1 group lost credit card processing
  • 1 group needed assistance with local law enforcement

Criminal

There were 22 requests for resources and information involving criminal legal matters, compared to 15 in the 2nd Quarter of 2022.  The reports include:

  • 19 reports came from people who were assaulted, sexually assaulted, stealthed, domestic violence, given drugs, photos taken without consent, theft (6 of the people who were reported were community organizers)
  • 1 report was about public records on someone who was arrested for armed robbery
  • 1 report came from someone who has an order of protection against them

Professionals

There were 8 requests regarding professionals compared to 6 in the 2nd Quarter of 2022:

  • 3 professionals reported discrimination, including online censorship
  • 3 people needed referrals for a KAP therapist
  • 2 professionals needed referrals for a kink support group for a client

Outing

There were 6 reports compared to 6 in the 2nd Quarter of 2022:

  • 3 people reported they were outed on Facebook (2 by FetLife screenshots)
  • 1 person reported being outed by an organizer
  • 1 group needed assistance in dealing with an outing by a Board Member
  • 1 person reported they were outed to their work and accused of sex crimes

Civil

There were 4 reports compared to 3 in the 2nd Quarter of 2022:

  • 2 people needed a mediator after being accused of consent violations
  • 1 person was deplatformed by Twitter
  • 1 person reported was looking for nondiscrimination policies on sexual expression and gender identity to give to their workplace

Child Custody

There were 3 requests for resources and referrals for family court attorneys, compared to 5 in the 2nd Quarter of 2022:

  • 1 parent reported child custody issues due to kink
  • 1 parent reported child custody issues due to polyamory
  • 1 parent reported child custody issues due to swinging Lifestyle
