In other words, the pandemic created the perfect storm for exposing the faults of a traditional marriage: There aren’t enough bodies around to ensure that everything in the home runs smoothly and the adults are getting adequate time without the kids — be it together or solo. The weight of all of this could tank anyone’s libido, or add to an already stressful desire mismatch, making the idea of a third partner — or more — start to sound not just exciting, but like a relief.
