NCSF has been working with a Louisiana club to try and prevent an ordinance that would severely regulate sexually oriented businesses and completely prohibit what they are referring to as “Live Sex Act Businesses”. NCSF attended two (2) public hearings. While the people of Acadia Parish and the Acadia Parish Police Jury are good and well-meaning people, they were not interested in hearing about how this private membership club does not meet their definitions of either a “Sexually Oriented Business” or a “Live Sex Act Business”, and their efforts to regulate this specific club would not be met with this ordinance. Instead, they passed this ordinance on January 14th, 2025.
NCSF is now working with the Fantasies LS club on the next steps, which could include filing for an injunction, a state lawsuit challenging the legality, and a federal case challenging this ordinance. It also includes statements from our Lousanna attorney, Doug Brown, and letters of support from the Woodhull Freedom Foundation and OPEN. We did not include the hundreds of personal statements we received in order to protect the people of Louisiana from the kinds of discrimination that the club owners have faced.
NCSF is also concerned about some of the language and received information that the State Attorney General was looking into enacting more restrictive language more broadly. We will meet with our Louisiana Coalition Partners to investigate and create a strategy.
